The Foundations of Advanced Clinical Supervision is an online program designed to meet the educational requirements for the Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) credential. The ACS credential may be obtained by meeting stringent guidelines established by the premier credentialing organization, the Center for Credentialing and Education™ (CCE), an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors. As noted by CCE-Global (2020),

The Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) credential identifies those mental health professionals who have met national professional supervision standards. The ACS promotes the clinical supervisor’s professional identity, visibility and accountability, and encourages professional growth. As of 2017, 15 states recognize the ACS as a supervision credential of choice (¶ 1).

With notable ties to the professional counseling community, the ACS designation facilitates counselor supervisor alignment with professional identity and industry standards. The DMU School of Counseling Foundations of Advanced Supervision course curriculum provides an opportunity for professional growth and for meeting continuing education requirements to qualified clinicians across several domains.
